Two days before the start of her junior year, seventeen-year-old Janelle Tenner is hit by a pickup truck and killed—as in blinding light, scenes of her life flashing before her, and then nothing. Except the next thing she knows, she's opening her eyes to find Ben Michaels, a loner from her high school whom Janelle has never talked to, leaning over her. And even though it isn't possible, she knows—with every fiber of her being—that Ben has somehow brought her back to life.

But her revival, and Ben's possible role in it, is only the first of the puzzles that Janelle must solve. While snooping in her FBI agent father's files for clues about her accident, she uncovers a clock that seems to be counting down to something—but to what? And when someone close to Janelle is killed, she can no longer deny what's right in front of her: Everything that's happened—the accident, the murder, the countdown clock, Ben's sudden appearance in her life—points to the end of life as she knows it. And as the clock ticks down, she realizes that if she wants to put a stop to the end of the world, she's going to need to uncover Ben's secrets—and keep from falling in love with him in the process.

From debut author Elizabeth Norris comes this shattering novel of one girl's fight to save herself, her world, and the boy she never saw coming.

You know how I'm like about sci-fi. The only thing sci-fi-ish that I've read is the Lux series (which is my favourite series, like ever!) but I do own a copy of Across the Universe and A Million Suns but haven't started it yet. Because I'm terrified. So I was pleasantly surprised to find that UNRAVELING was just as heart-pounding and mysterious and EXCITING as everyone seems to claim.

Janelle was my kinda girl. She's so different from other protagonists out there right now. I want to give her a big hug! I WANNA BE HER FRIEND! She's selfless, caring, clever and self-sacrificing. Also, I'm a bit in love with her name LOL. I think Janelle won my heart when she shows how much she loves and cares for her family. Her devotion to her dysfunctional family was mesmerizing. I love love love her relationship with her younger brother, Jared. And I think the family problems are one that is very realistic and relatable. I think I loved this contemporary feel to it.

You know, this would have been my top three of 2012 read so far but I think the one factor that let me down was the romance. I mean, the relationship between Ben and Janelle was very sweet and short. I really love them as a couple, but my only complaint was just more romance. You know I love heavy romance on my books! I just needed to know Ben better! Hopefully in the sequel, I would fall in love with him just as much as Janelle does.

There were just so many twists and turns that even though this book was a giant (hello! 500 pages, anyone?), I couldn't literally couldn't put this book down. There was lots of science stuff going on, which I didn't expect but I sincerely adored it! Which isn't me because my worst subject is Science and I think it's all boring and stuff, but the way Unraveling incorporated Science made me like it just a tiny bit. Okay, maybe a LOT.

There was just so much going on, the FBI-like case, the high school problems, family life, Ben and his friends, EVERYTHING! It was jam-packed action and it flows amazingly! This is the type of YA that we all need more of! I can't wait for Liz's future novels and the sequel to this. Bring on 2013!
